About Us

BoydHi, I'm Boyd and I'm the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone. I am primarily responsible for the overall leadership of the church and for the teaching on Sunday. I have a passion to see people become all that God created them to be. 

BASIC STUFF: My family moved here in July, 2011. We were married in 1992 and have lived most of our lives in Georgia, though we lived in the Parker, CO area from 1997 to 2002. We went to rival high schools in southwest Georgia and met in the church I attended from my youth. We have three kids –Emma (13), Aidan (11), and Abby (8).

BIRTHDAY: May 24, 1971

EDUCATION: Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, California (2010); Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (1999); Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) Secondary Math Education from Valdosta State University (1993).

INTERESTS AND FAVORITES

  • Places: “The Old Home Place” (my parents’ home) in Miller County, Georgia; the Florida panhandle gulf coast; I love Denver and the Rocky Mountain West –and anywhere my family and relatives are.  
  • Books: I read A LOT –mostly best ministry practices and business books.  
  • TV: Jen and I watch the CSI shows, Last Man Standing, Raymond reruns, and nothing will ever top The Andy Griffith Show.  
  • Sports Teams: Pro: ALL Atlanta teams – Braves, Falcons, Hawks; ALL Denver teams (as long as they are not playing any Atlanta teams!) – Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche. College: Florida State Seminoles.
  • Movies: For me, nothing will ever top “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy.
  • Hobbies: Hanging out with immediate and extended family; eating fried catfish; and I have golf clubs.
  • Dislikes: Taxes, brussels sprouts, radishes, beets, Satan, and people who serve him in the local church.
  • Odd Facts: I have taught math in high school and critical thinking in college. I am interested in Native American artifacts and spent much of my younger days searching for them on “the old home place.”
