Jesse Wyrick, Youth Pastor

Basic Stuff:

Hello everyone! My name is Jesse Wyrick. I am the Youth Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church. I am so excited to be a part of what God is doing in and around Windsor youth. Are you a parent? I would love to work alongside you as we aim to raise your child(ren) in Christ. Are you a student? I would love to introduce you to the Savior and life that has given mine purpose, passion, and an eternal pursuit. Let’s get to know Jesus Christ together through God’s Word, the Bible, and His people, the Church.

I have been married to my wife Ashley (who currently has blue hair but stand by for continuing changes) since 2009 and we have two kiddos- Abby, born April 2011 and Parker, born March 2014. We also have a playful Boston Terrier, Phoebe, and a rather antisocial cat, Oakley. I am originally from a small town east of Kansas City, MO and can’t believe God would let me serve His people in beautiful Colorado.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries from Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, MO in December 2019.

Master of Theological Studies from Gateway Seminary in Ontario, CA in April 2023.

Interests and Favorites:

Places: Kansas City, Chicago, Dallas/Fortworth, Louisville, and the outdoors.

Books: Imperfect Disciple (Jared Wilson), Follow Me (David Platt), AHA, and Not A Fan (Kyle Idleman) and as a kid, My Side of the Mountain (Jean Craighead George). I also enjoy reading anything from or about Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Music: In addition to Christian music I love classic country, bluegrass, 90’s/2000’s alternative, blues (B.B. King, Buddy Guy) and anything by Eric Clapton.

Movies and TV: I generally like fast driving, shoot’em-up movies like the Fast and Furious movies, A-Team, Shooter, and classic car movies like Smokie and the Bandit and Cannonball Run. My favorite movie growing up was the Goonies. I also like most things Bill Murray and really like Groundhog’s Day. When I watch TV I like short, somewhat mindless, shows including Family Feud, Judge Judy, Forged in Fire, and The Voice.

Hobbies: I like almost all things outdoors. I enjoy hunting, sport shooting (trap and skeet mostly), fishing, working on cars, motorcycle rides, and hosting BBQs.

Favorite Scripture: John 9:4 – “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.”
